Mozambique is a country in Southern Africa, located on the coast of the Indian Ocean, with around 20 million inhabitants. It was a Portuguese colony, which became independent on June 25, 1975

Mozambique has some of the largest reserves of natural resources with energy potential in the world, especially coal, natural gas and, more recently discovered, oil, although in smaller quantities. Natural energy resources are, or can be, instruments of power or political weapons.
