The Consulate General was established as a Trade Office to facilitate Trade and Investment between Malawi and Mozambique as well as other SADC countries. The Vienna Convention on Consular Matters provides the most broad, detailed and internationally accepted definition of consular functions which guides the Malawi Consulate. Accordingly the Malawi Consulate provides Consular assistance where Consular assistance shall mean help and advice provided by the diplomatic agents of a country to citizens of that country who are living or travelling overseas.
